Stories from the CIAC Girls Golf Championships

KEVIN D. ROBERTS/Farmington Valley Sports
Canton senior Nikki Liucci ended her Connecticut High School career with a bang at the CIAC Girls Golf Championships on Tuesday at Orange Hills Country Club in Orange.
Liucci finished tied for third place and earned All-State honors for the second straight year.
Avon finished seventh as a team, led by an All-State effort from sophomore Marissa Grillo. Grillo finished in a tie for seventh place.
Both Liucci and Grillo moved on to play for the New England Individual Golf Tournament on June 20 at Bretwood Golf Club North Course in Keene, N.H.
Simsbury finished 15th out of 15 teams. The Trojans are a very young team, including freshman Mikayla Sheary, who led her team with a 91.
You can find information on all three teams in the story above.

It was also a good day for West Hartford golfers. Hall finished eighth as a team in its first-ever team appearance in the state championships. Northwest Catholic tied for 10th, two spots better than its 12th place finish in 2011. Indian junior Sadie Martinez garnered All-State honors.
