Torrington Sports Palace picks up first win of Connie Mack season over Winsted

Torrington Sports Palace won its NW Connecticut Connie Mack Baseball League home opener, 2-1 over Winsted on Thursday night at Fuessenich Park. Cody Lemieux (complete game, 1 run, 5 hits, 9 strikeouts, 2 walks, 1 hit batter) was able to outduel Jimi Phillips (6 innings, 2 runs, 3 hits, 8 strikeouts, 1 walk) to pick up the win. Ben Stone's RBI single in the fourth inning to score Corey Lafrance gave Sports Palace the 2-1 lead it would never give up. Sports Palace improved to 1-1 on the season. Winsted dropped to 0-1.
